Debbie - Sapporo, Japan

This is another etegami that I had received during my time away for home. I just adore the umbrella and the poem that came with it.  Debbie shared the first part of a poem called BE NOT DEFEATED BY THE RAIN by Kenji Miyazawa which was translated by Davis Sulz:

Be not defeated by the rain, Nor let the wind prove your better. Succumb not to the snows of winter. Nor be bested by the heat of summer.

Be strong in body. Unfettered by desire. Not enticed to anger. Cultivate quiet joy. Count yourself last in everything. Put others before you. Watch well and listen closely. Hold the learned lessons dear.

Thank you Debbie, I'll keep your advice to heart!

Jennifer - Lexington, KY

I received this cheerful card from Jennifer after returning from a 3 week road trip. Though she sent it from KY, the subjects are from a trip to Kamakura two years ago. How small the world is. Any reminder of my former home in Kanagawa prefecture pulls at my heart strings! And yes, life is much too short to spend it as a Negative-Nancy!

Thank you Jennifer!

Shungo - Yokohama, Japan

I received this gorgeous pink flower from Shungo, along with some hand made Kudzu postcards.  I love his little chidori and kitty stamps that he decorated the envelope with.
Thank you so much, I can't wait to try out the new postcards!

Dan - Telford, England

Thanks to Dan for this dreamy butterfly. These days I'm dreaming of a good night's sleep as we've started crib training and move on from co-sleeping. Hope to make this dream a reality very quickly. Thanks again!

Carole M - Hamilton, Australia

Well, he's already 10 months old but... It's a BOY! Thank you for the cute monkey slippers you sent to me last summer when my baby was still a butternut squash!

Linda - Honolulu, HI

Some pansies and a cat mono print  this week, a tanabata wish and birdhouse for my soul from July, a sweet lantern and a beautiful seascape from last summer.

Linda's messages are always equally thoughtful and sweet. They never fail to bring a smile to my face!  Thank you very much!!

Patricia - El Granada, CA

Some mindful advice in etegami form from Patricia. These were sent to me last summer while I was living in Japan... I'm in the process of catching up!

Thank you!
